Archbishop C. Nathan Edwers DMin is the General Bishop of the UFWB Church General Conference. He oversees multiple churches in the tri-state area of NY, NJ, and CT, leading over four annual conferences.
Archbishop Edwers was elected General Bishop on March 26, 2022, and since taking office, has ushered the conference into being one of the leading innovative organizations of its day. He is the longest-serving pastor of Friendship, helping to solidify the church as a cornerstone in the community.
Archbishop Edwers is an accomplished theological scholar and community leader, with numerous degrees, including a Bachelor’s in Christian Education from Nyack College, a Master’s from Alliance Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate from United Theological Seminary.
He and Aro Denise Edwers, his wife of 35 years, reside in Mount Vernon, NY. He is the father of Sherri and Eric Edwers, father-in-law of Audrey Edwers, and Grandfather to Harper Edwers and Theodore A. Edwers.
Archbishop Edwers began his journey in 1983 as the Pastor of Calvary UFWB Church in Brooklyn, NY, and in 1989 he became the Pastor of Little Friendship UFWB Church in Mount Vernon, NY.
In March of 1999, he was consecrated as Bishop by his father, the Late Senior Bishop Collie Edwers.
In 2001, he became the Presiding Bishop of the Middle Atlantic Conference, following in his father’s footsteps.
Archbishop Edwers has held various community leadership positions. Some of those positions include serving as the President of the United Black Clergy of Westchester for two terms, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., St. Joseph Lodge #117 Free and Accepted Masonry, and the Buffalo Soldiers MC.
Archbishop Edwers is also the Founder, CEO, and director of the Friendship For Tots Inc. Early Learning Center in Mount Vernon, NY.
